Faces of FK media women

Fredskorpset (FK) is a Norwegian development agency funded by the Foreign ministry facilitating exchange of participants between North to South and South to South. FK operates in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America.  Fredskorpset, means the Peace Corps. The organizations include child based organisations, environmentalists, lawyers, agriculturalists, universities and journalists.

How FK works

The home organization identifies potential participants for the programme. The participants are subjected to an interview. Best candidate’s names are sent to the FK head office. The latter facilitates communication with selected candidates. The head office connects with the participants through email on when the prep course and benefits. Preparatory course (prep)  prepares the participants mentally to live abroad. The host organization is an organization that receives the FK participant. While the home organisation sends the FK participant to the host organisation and vice versa. FK Participants are given a placement of 10 months abroad.

Media women

FK Norway has worked with media women partners for the last 10 years. They include Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA), Zambia Media Women’s Association (ZAMWA), Ethiopia Media Women’s Association (EMWA), and Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA). In 2008, College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) in Nepal joined the media partners in exchanging journalists.

Learning and sharing experiences is one of the major aims of FK. Cultural tolerance is a vital driving factor for the all the participants to be adhered to wherever you are posted. However the programme for the media partners has come to an end.

Different colours and diversity

Different colours one people define the faces of FK. Meet Anne Kari Garberg who adores children and with a distinctive touch in communication. The diversity of the faces of FK is seen through the different nationalities and professionalism. Their goal is to learn new culture and see the extent to which participant can tolerate each other.
